Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir
Cappella Festiva Chamber Choir has garnered a reputation throughout the Hudson Valley for producing creative, high-quality concerts of compelling classical music. What started as a small group of distinguished musicians who wished to perform the music of Johann Sebastian Bach has become a stunning choir performing an eclectic musical repertoire, often collaborating with the Hudson Valley Symphony Orchestra and other fine area musicians.
This is an auditioned ensemble under the baton of Dr. Christine Howlett, with members drawn from the mid-Hudson Valley. Many of the singers in Cappella are trained vocalists and have fine solo voices. Some maintain an active avocation of solo performances. Thus, one unique aspect of the group is that solos are generally taken by members of the group itself, supporting the conviction that the best music can be made with people who are used to working with each other.
Cappella rehearses Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Vassar College Chapel. Auditions are usually held at the end of August and beginning of January every year. However, at this time there are no Chamber Choir openings. If you would like to be placed on a wait list, we invite you to fill out an interview form. There is a place on the form where we ask you to upload a recording of your voice. If you have a question about auditions, please send an email to cappellafestiva@gmail.com or call 845-853-7765.
